De’Anthony Melton is shining with the 76ers in his first year in Philadelphia

He made the Grizzlies better. He is making the Sixers better. De’Anthony Melton, only 24 years old, is likely to stick around in the NBA.

De’Anthony Melton continues to prove how valuable he is in the NBA. The former Trojan and current Philadelphia 76er guard averages 11 points and 2.8 assists per game and is considered one of the best young defenders in the game today.

Melton entered this week fourth in the league in steals with 1.8 a game. Melton remains the leader of his team with a total of 169 deflections in games played so far this season.

He stands in sixth place in the NBA in total deflections. Also notable from these complex stats is the fact that the former USC star contested four shots per game, on par with all other top defending guards in the league.

The 24-year-old with the nickname “Mr. Do Something” is doing something big this year. Melton could be on the first, second or third team defense this year when it’s all said and done. He hopes to be a difference-maker for the 76ers in the upcoming NBA playoffs, which could determine whether Doc Rivers remains Melton’s coach into the 2023-24 NBA season in Philadelphia.
