DeAndre Jordan always seems to find a way to have fun on the basketball court. Last year, when coming off the bench, he would always make sure Jarrett Allen’s afro looked fresh to start the game. When he’d get in on the action, Jordan would pick up imaginary dimes whenever he dished out an assist.
Jordan’s teammates have said on multiple occasions he’s still keeping things light this season — he busted Joe Harris’ chops about missing a dunk in a preseason practice, saying all the money he got from his new contract was weighing him down. On Wednesday, after Brooklyn’s crazy 145-141 win over the Hawks, Jordan couldn’t help but let all his energy out when the final whistle sounded, jumping on Allen’s back in celebration.

“You see me battling down there for the boards, I can handle DeAndre,” Allen said when asked on a Zoom call with reporters about the struggle of carrying his 6-for-11, 265-pound teammate. “He’s been great. He’s been cheering me on every step of the way since he got here. Teaching me post moves, teaching me how to guard [the] post, teaching me just little things on the offensive and defensive end.
“Being able to have him — he has my back, he’s teaching me stuff. Been a great teammate, that’s all I can say.”
