DeAndre Jordan earns NBA Cares Community Assist Award for December

DeAndre Jordan had a huge impact on the community during the holiday season, and NBA Cares took notice.

When it comes to helping others, there’s no time quite like the holiday season. As much as NBA Cares makes a point to give back to communities throughout the year, Thanksgiving and the December holidays promote increased efforts from everyone.

During the 2019 holiday season, the Brooklyn Nets worked with Nike to help bring back a Brooklyn middle school’s music program. Kevin Durant visited children at the Coalition for the Homeless in New York. Joe Harris partnered with Pay Away the Layaway.

But there was one Nets player who went the extra mile in December: DeAndre Jordan.

The Nets big man turned heads with the ‘6 Days of Giving,’ — so much so that he was awarded December’s NBA Cares Community Assist Award.

“I love using my platform to create unforgettable holiday memories for children,” Jordan said in the Nets’ announcement. “I look forward to hosting ‘6 Days of Giving’ every year in communities that have impacted me.”
