DeAndre Hopkins looking for 3 things on a team

He wants stable management, a quarterback who loves the game and a good defense.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is not with the team currently as they started voluntary OTAs this week. He was the subject of trade rumors before the draft but the Cardinals were unable to find a team willing to meet their asking price.

Hopkins appeared on the “I am athlete” podcast with former NFL receiver Brandon Marshall and Ashley Nicole Moss. While he is not being shopped by the team right now, he was asked what he is looking for in a new team.

Hopkins seeks three things in a new team.

The first is organizational.

“What I want is stable management upstairs,” he said. “I think that is something I really haven’t had.”

Next is “a QB who loves the game, a QB who brings everybody on board with him and pushes not only himself but people around him.”

Lastly, he seeks “a great defense.”

“I think defense wins championships,” he said. “You’ve got to have a great defense, a great D-line.”

How many do the Cardinals currently have?

General manager Monti Ossenfort is new to the job but Hopkins believes the team “is in good hands,”

Hopkins also believes in the defense with players like Budda Baker and Isaiah Simmons.

The only thing they lack is a quarterback, but it wasn’t a slight on Kyler Murray. He notes that Murray does love the game.

Hopkins knows Murray is injured, so he doesn’t currently “have a Pro Bowl quarterback.”

“For me, I’m playing with Colt McCoy, who I love, but…,” he said, unable to really say what he wanted without insulting his teammate.

Will he be with the Cardinals and their two out of three things in the regular season?

We will find out.
