All it took was a quick announcement on Monday from Behavior Interactive that Dead By Daylight is getting in on NFTs to infuriate its fanbase.
The Masters of Horror NFT Collection is a collaboration between Behavior Interactive and Boss Protocol, a company that makes NFTs based on popular franchises. Buying into Dead By Daylight’s Masters of Horror NFT Collection potentially nets you the Hellraiser Chapter. And well, fans are extremely upset about this. Mainly because of the controversy surrounding NFTs and blockchain technologies that potentially have a negative impact on the environment.

Behaviour worked with Boss Protocol over several months to adapt in-game models for use as NFTs and approved them prior to the release of Pinhead in DbD. The NFTs have a chance to grant access to the #Hellraiser chapter of DbD. pic.twitter.com/3ZZKq3uPYN

Everyone is taking shots at Dead By Daylight and its developers over this collaboration. It’s a hot-button issue in the video game industry right now, with companies like Valve banning cryptocurrency games from Steam to Epic welcoming them — Behavior Interactive picked a heck of a time to jump into this whole mess.
Below you’ll find a list of some of the reactions condemning this announcement. From prominent industry figures like Ellen Rose and Patrick Klepek to artists like Trevor Henderson, the response is overwhelmingly negative. At least the memes are funny, though, I guess?
