DC Joe Woods on torches and pitchforks: ‘I don’t worry about it’

Defensive coordinator Joe Woods hears the calls for his head, but it has not deterred him

The cries for the job of defensive coordinator can be heard all around Northeast Ohio. A quick browse through the Twitter search bar with Joe Woods’ name typed into it will let you know just what individuals think the Cleveland Browns should do with Woods and his job.

Myles Garrett can’t get free of double teams because of both lack of talent and scheme deficiencies, and as a result, the Browns’ defense has been one of the worst in 2022.

When asked about it today, however, Woods stated he does not worry about it.

“This year has been a challenge, and I promise everybody we are trying to do everything we can. Right now it is not going well in terms of consistency… I don’t worry about it. You can’t. I have been around in my coaching career people who listen to it more… I believe in what I am doing, I believe in the coaches I have around me, just because of stuff we have done I believe in the players. And I just feel like if we all work together to correct the issues, then we will get headed in the right direction.”

The Browns still have three more games until their bye week, so it is hard to see a move made before then. However, the New England Patriots are one of the league’s best in terms of running the football, and we do not know what will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

We do know, however, that if things do not change for this defensive unit, and fast, that Woods is going to continue to face the torches and pitchforks after games.
