Day One: Sergio De La Espriella Joins Gators Wire

New Gators Wire writer Sergio De La Espriella pens an introductory post for his sports alma mater’s website.

Hello! My name is Sergio De La Espriella and today is my first day with Gators Wire. Before I dive into writing all about the Florida Gators, I figured I’d take the time to tell you all a little about myself.

I was born and raised in South Florida and have been an avid sports fan since before I could walk. My “first love” sports team was the 2003 Florida Marlins (Florida Marlins > Miami Marlins) and I idolized Dwyane Wade growing up.

In 2014, I enrolled at the University of Florida to study Musical Theater. It was during those four years that my love for Gators sports flourished. In 2017 I started a college football podcast with a friend and have never looked back.

Not all of my Gators Wire pieces will be this personal, but I am of the belief that in order to get the entire scope of my writing, you need to have an idea of where I’m coming from.

You can find me here on Gators Wire (obviously) where I’ll cover everything Florida Gators related from recruiting, football, basketball, etc. If you want to hear more from me, make sure to follow Sideline Judgement and TailGators on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, wherever you get your podcasts.

Follow me on Twitter, @sdelaes, where I give you the best pro wrestling takes, defend the integrity of french toast, and participate in the zeitgeist of college football twitter.

I’ll sign off with the way I close every episode of Sideline Judgement.

I’m not biased, but Go Gators!
