The New England Patriots added some much-needed talent with reported deals on Monday morning.
Bill Belichick brought in tight end Jonnu Smith on a huge deal, along with defensive tackle Davon Godchaux from the Miami Dolphins. Godchaux has agreed to terms on a two-year, $16 million contract that’ll bring in $9 million guaranteed. He’s 26-years-old and brings much-need depth and youth to a position group that’s missing both.
During his four seasons with the Dolphins, Godchaux was used primarily as a run-stopper and he brings great value for that cause. He did suffer a bicep tear to end his 2020 season, but is expected to make a full recovery for 2021.
Although Tom Brady isn’t around anymore, Godchaux used one of the quarterback’s favorite phrases while tweeting his excitement to join the Patriots.

The Patriots’ depth at defensive tackle is noted by ESPN’s Mike Reiss.
