Davis Mills explains his rough outing vs. Titans in Week 8

Mills barely eclipsed 150 passing yards against the #Titans and did not mince words in his post-mortem after Sunday’s game

The Houston Texans laid a huge egg against the Tennessee Titans in Week 8, due in no small part to the inability of their quarterback to make anything happen on offense. Though their defense was able to hold their opponent to just 17 points, the Texans could muster just 10 points, with seven of them coming after a late-game touchdown drive after the game was well in hand for Tennessee.

Davis Mills talked to the media about his abysmal performance in his post-game press conference, telling reporters that things clearly didn’t go to plan.

“It’s tough,” Mills explained. “A lot of it, we were trying to run the ball on first and second down. We might pop a run and then get some sort of penalty on the play that gets us pushed back. Just not much going for us today. They can bring pressure when they know it’s a passing situation, and it’s tough to defend some of those guys. They have some really talented players on the other side of the ball.

“Obviously, we’ll see the film. I can’t make all the corrections and tell you what went wrong right now. Ready to see it tomorrow. We’ve got this game circled for later in the season when we go to Tennessee and see them again, so be ready for that. Like I said, see the film, make the corrections, and then move on to the Eagles early this next week.”

While Houston’s season likely failed before they bungled this game against their divisional rivals, Sunday’s loss will serve as a final nail in the coffin of their chances to compete in 2022, even if only for their own pride. At this point, the Texans would be wise to play for 2023 draft position in an effort to secure a franchise quarterback who might be able to get the team out of the rut that has consumed it for the last few seasons.
