David Long bids farewell to Titans fans after signing with Dolphins

Former Titans LB David Long said goodbye to fans on social media the day after agreeing to terms with the Dolphins.

The Tennessee Titans lost one of their starting linebackers to free agency on Monday when David Long agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins on a two-year deal.

Long’s deal is worth $11 million in total, which is a very reasonable price, even with his injury issues the past few years.

As we noted in a separate article, Long not landing back in Tennessee on that price tag likely means the team simply let him walk. We dive more into that and the possible situation with Nate Davis right here.

On Tuesday morning, Long took to social media to say goodbye to Titans fans as he prepares to head to South Beach.

“Tennessee, forever grateful for the opportunity and the love shown by the fans over the years,” he tweeted. “Built many relationships on and off the field that I’ll forever carry with me! Thank you.”

With Long now out of the mix, the Titans have two starters to replace at linebacker. 2021 third-round pick Monty Rice is one option.

Tennessee has since added to the position by agreeing to terms with former Dallas Cowboys linebacker, Luke Gifford, but he doesn’t figure to be anything more than a special teams and rotational player in Nashville.
