Arizona Cardinals fans once again get to wonder about a social media post that mentions snakes and grass. The latest is by running back David Johnson, who has been traded to the Houston Texans in a deal that sends receiver DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona.
On Friday, Johnson perhaps left a parting shot at the Cardinals organization with this tweet.
When the grass is cut the snakes will show 🐍
— David Johnson (@DavidJohnson31) March 20, 2020
Last year, cornerback Patrick Peterson referred to snakes in the grass in a tweet that seemed to refer to the team.
The tweet is quoting lyrics from Jay-Z.
Johnson’s final season with the Cardinals did not go well. He got injured after six games and then saw his playing time diminish. Kenyan Drake was acquired via trade and was productive and after Johnson’s fumble in Tampa Bay, it appeared that head coach Kliff Kingsbury lost trust in him.
Johnson was a healthy scratch in the season finale, suggesting they were trying to keep him from getting hurt before the offseason.
Now he gets to potentially rejuvenate his career in Houston.
He finishes his time in Arizona 10th on the franchise all-time list for rushing yards.
