Detroit Lions reserve quarterback David Blough might have some divided attention later this month. While he’s focusing on fighting for the backup QB gig behind new starter Jared Goff, Blough’s wife will be competing for Olympic glory.
Melissa Gonzalez, Blough’s wife, will represent her home country of Colombia at the Tokyo Olympics later in July. She set the Colombian national record in the 400-meter hurdles and will run for the nation in Japan.
Blough and Gonzalez went to the same high school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas. The proud husband posted congrats on social media for his athletically gifted spouse,
I wish you all could see the day to day that went into this. In 2017, Melissa said, “I know I belong at the highest level, I’m going to run through Tokyo 2020 and just see what happens.”
Here she is in 2021 after a few crazy years. Stronger. Faster. Now, an Olympian! #OLY 😁🇨🇴 pic.twitter.com/TPbAfHbNyV
