David Andrews ‘excited’ to get to work with Patriots QB Mac Jones

David Andrews is excited and ready for the Patriots’ newest signal-caller.

One of the best aspects of joining the New England Patriots as a quarterback right now is the offensive line.

Isaiah Wynn, Michael Onwenu, David Andrews, Shaq Mason and Trent Brown will hold down the starting roles with players in Ted Karras and Korey Cunningham to back them up. Cam Newton will be set up for success and even rookie quarterback Mac Jones would be in a solid place if he earned the opportunity to start.

Andrews, who re-signed four-year deal after playing five seasons in Foxborough, discussed Jones and his excitement for the young quarterback while speaking with reporters on Tuesday.

“I’m just excited to get to work with him,” Andrews said. “I’ve heard a lot about him. I’m not a quarterback scout, but I’m just excited to get to work with him, get to meet him, hang out with him. Heard a lot of great things about him.”

Jones surprisingly fell to the No. 15 overall pick and he’s one of the top quarterback in this year’s draft. He started two seasons at Alabama and accrued 4,500 passing yards for 41 touchdowns and only four interceptions last season. Jones also led the Crimson Tide to an SEC Championship victory and a National Championship title.

Bill Belichick has Newton set as the starter currently, but things could change by Week 1 if Jones appears to be ready.
