Davante Adams says Aaron Rodgers is still talking about him joining the Jets

Aaron Rodgers still wants Davante Adams to join him with the New York Jets.

Apparently, Aaron Rodgers is lobbying Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams to join him with the New York Jets.

Adams spent the first eight seasons of his NFL career with Rodgers as a member of the Green Bay Packers. And while Adams has two more years on his contract after this season (there is an opt-out for the Raiders that would result in a $15.7 million salary cap hit), there will always be speculation that the playmaker and quarterback could be re-united again in New York.

Now, Adams did nothing to pour any fuel on the fire that he wants out of Las Vegas. He didn’t make any trade demands or indicate that he had any concerns about the franchise’s future.

In answering a question from Kay Adams on the ‘Up & Adams’ show, Davante Adams was asked if his former teammate was trying to link up with him again.

He simply said that Rodgers is still talking to him about joining the Jets.

“He’s in that ear, that’s for sure. He’s in the ear,” Davante Adams told Kay Adams.

“It’s not as easy – obviously we can get together and talk about the old times and the potential of doing this and that. Like I said, I’m a Raider, he knows that.”

Truth be told, there is nothing much to see here at this point.

Last season, Davante Adams had 103 receptions for 1,144 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

He has been a first-team All-Pro selection three times in his NFL career.

Now could the Raiders want to trade Adams? They sure could and Las Vegas might want to send him to a contending team if they can get the right draft pick compensation back.

After all, he is set to turn 32 years old this December, meaning that the Raiders likely will want to get something back from their sizable investment when they acquired him in a trade in 2022.

But it isn’t an easy move, given his contract size and the compensation needed to get a deal done. Fun to talk about for Jets fans, but this one just doesn’t seem likely.

And it isn’t like Rodgers chirping about a reunion in New York is going to effectuate this change.
