Daryl Morey likely to wait until December for Sixers to trade Ben Simmons

Philadelphia 76ers president Daryl Morey is likely to wait until December to look to move Ben Simmons.

The Philadelphia 76ers are still moving on with their season as they get to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road on Sunday, but they are also still dealing with the Ben Simmons situation. It appears that there are positive steps taken to get him back on the floor, but the star still wants to be moved.

Philadelphia team president Daryl Morey is not going to trade Simmons for just anything, though. He is going to make sure the Sixers get the value they believe they deserve for one of the game’s brightest stars as Morey acknowledges that Simmons is still under contract for four more years in Philadelphia.

NBA veteran reporter Marc Stein is reporting that Morey will likely wait until at least December to move Simmons. Starting on Dec. 15, more of the league will be available from the 2021 free agency crop.

Per Stein:

League sources concur that no Simmons trade is imminent and that Morey is likely to wait until after Dec. 15 when more players are eligible to be dealt leaguewide before he pursues a deal with greater intent.

At the moment, this is probably the smartest move Morey can do. The Sixers do not want to settle for just anything for Simmons and they will have to keep working on trying to get him out there on the floor and play in some games in order to boost his trade value. He will also be able to help the team win some games in the meantime.
