A University of Tennessee track and field athlete is headed to the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Darryl Sullivan qualified to represent Team USA in the U.S. Olympic Trials Sunday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
He will compete in the men’s high jump during the Tokyo Games.
Sullivan, a four-time All-America standout from Marion, Illinois, equaled his career-best mark of 2.33 meters (7 feet, 7.75 inches) to make the Olympic team in the event.
His high jump mark is tied for third in the world during the 2021 outdoor season.
Sullivan has the school record in high jump and is the first Volunteer to qualify for the Olympics in the event.
