LSU basketball players Darius Days and Xavier Pinson were named to the preseason All-SEC teams, the SEC announced on Tuesday, with Days being selected to the first team while Xavier Pinson was voted to the second team. A total of 38 different players received votes for the coaches’ teams.
Days, who returned for his senior year after testing the NBA waters during the summer, started 28 games last season. He averaged 11.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, and a steal per game. In 2021 he shot over 50 percent from the field (51.9%), including 52 three-pointers. He has in double figures over 44 times three seasons and his 16 double-doubles for his career is the most for any currently active player in the SEC.
Xavier Pinson transferred to LSU after three seasons at Missouri. He started 26 games during the 2020-21 season and averaged 13.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He had 18 games where he scored in double figures.
The LSU opens the season on Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. against ULM.
