Danuel House Jr. sidelined by back injury; David Nwaba starts for Rockets

With House out versus Dallas, the Rockets started David Nwaba on Monday alongside John Wall, James Harden, PJ Tucker, and Christian Wood.

Starting Houston Rockets forward Danuel House Jr. did not play in Monday night’s home game versus Dallas due to a back issue.

Head coach Stephen Silas said he had just learned of the problem prior to his pregame media session with reporters at Toyota Center. He did not indicate whether the injury might cause House to miss more games.

“I just found out about the House thing, literally as I was walking into this room,” Silas said pregame. “I wish I had a better answer.”

“I don’t have a feel for how long it’s going to be,” Silas concluded.

With House sidelined, David Nwaba replaced him in Houston’s starting lineup versus Dallas alongside John Wall, James Harden, PJ Tucker, and Christian Wood. Nwaba also started in place of Wall when he was forced to miss two games earlier in the season to quarantine.

A 6-foot-6 small forward, House is averaging 7.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in 32.5 minutes per game this season. The 27-year-old is also among Houston’s most athletic and versatile defenders.

Houston’s next game is Wednesday night at Indiana. As of Monday evening, the potential playing status of House remained unknown.
