PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers have a number of talented players coach Doc Rivers can turn to as he creates a rotation he can count on every night.
To begin the season, Rivers frequently turned to Danuel House Jr. The veteran could come in and provide good minutes. He gave the Sixers energy off the bench, and he knocked down 3-pointers at a solid clip.
However, the rotation has changed as has the role of House Jr. as Rivers gets a look at other players. The seven-year veteran has not played in four of the last seven contests and only saw action in the two wins over the Detroit Pistons when the game was over.
“What can I do?” House Jr. said on Tuesday after the win. “Control what I can control. That’s it.”
For a veteran like House Jr., that could be frustrating, but he remains professional and focused on what he can handle. He’s been in the league long enough to know that as long as he keeps working, he will get another chance to play.
“I wouldn’t say it’s frustrating. I mean, it’s part of the game,” he added. “Control what you can control.”
House Jr. has had a tough journey to even get to this point. Just because he isn’t playing much right now doesn’t mean he will not get another chance. Rivers is always tinkering with the rotation and giving opportunities to others.
“I’m a dog,” he finished. “I didn’t have it easy. That’s just how the cards played out for me a lot. So control what I can control.”
