Danuel House Jr. was brought in by the Philadelphia 76ers early in the free agency period as somebody who can bring toughness to the floor as well as two-way play. He is a reliable 3-point shooter and he is an able defender as well.
House Jr. showed off his talents in Monday’s preseason win over the Cleveland Cavaliers when he scored 10 points on 4-for-4 shooting and he knocked down two 3s as well. He was also very good on the defensive end, and he gave Philadelphia a big spark off the bench.
As the regular season approaches, House Jr. opened up on his role with the team, and he discussed what he is expected to do out on the floor.
“My role is just to be energy,” he told reporters in Cleveland. “Be the guy to make stuff happen. Make plays happen, make a shot, knock down a shot, get a rebound, pass the ball, set the play up, run the play, set the screen, whatever the team needs pretty much. I’m just here to give away myself. Like I said earlier, I’m not really worried about accolades. As long as we win, I feel like that’s my biggest accolade.”
It appears the biggest theme with the Sixers right now is winning. It’s all about the team and wanting to win. House Jr. is one of the leaders when it comes to that philosopy.
“Basketball players,” House Jr. added. “Basketball players make winning plays. Every play is a winning play for us and our team, and we’re just leading by example by showing it.”
One thing’s for sure, House Jr. has a big supporter in coach Doc Rivers.
“I love him,” Rivers told reporters. “I love his spirit before he gets on the court. I love his talk. He’s one of the other guys that talks a lot, but he shoots the ball. He’s just playing very, very smart basketball.”
