We are just a few hours away from the Oklahoma Sooners taking on the West Virginia Mountaineers. The Sooners are losers of two straight and have been dealing with injuries on defense.
The Sooners have been without star linebacker [autotag]Danny Stutsman[/autotag] for the last game and a half. But according to On3’s Matt Zenitz, the leader of the defense is set to make his return this Saturday.
Stutsman’s presence has been missed. Not just for his production on the field. Redshirt freshman Kip Lewis did a great job making up for that last week, but what was missed is what he brings as a leader. Stutsman is tasked with making sure the defense is set and in the right call before the snap.
Oklahoma star linebacker Danny Stutsman, who didn’t play last week due to an ankle injury, is expected to play vs. West Virginia today, a source tells @on3sports.
He ranks third in the Big 12 with 73 tackles. Also ranks second with 11.5 tackles for loss.https://t.co/YTjmEVO0yL pic.twitter.com/G3U2m7wdMf

He’s going to be important for the Sooners and how they end this season. That starts Saturday as West Virginia brings in one of the best rushing attacks in the nation. They find a lot of success in the run-pass and read-option. West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene is a threat in the run game as well.
Stutsman and the linebackers are going to have to be on their “A” game or the Mountaineers’ offense could have a big day against the Sooners’ defense. With just a few hours before the game, it appears the Sooners have some good news by getting their leader back.
Hopefully, Stutsman isn’t the only starter set to return for Oklahoma in their primetime matchup.
