Danny Stutsman named top linebacker performer in the Big 12 by College Sports Wire

Danny Stutsman had another great performance in the Sooners win over the Knights, earning linebacker of the week from College Sports Wire

Another week, another great performance by [autotag]Danny Stutsman[/autotag] at linebacker. It’s starting to become a trend that on Saturdays, Stutsman is going to show up.

Stutsman led the Oklahoma Sooners with 12 tackles in the win over the [autotag]UCF Knights[/autotag]. He also added a tackle for loss and a forced fumble. He played so well that USA TODAY Sports’ College Sports Wire named him the top performer at linebacker in the Big 12 for Week 8.

This is beginning to look like the Danny Stutsman category. Either he or Ben Roberts of Texas Tech as they are tackling machines. Stutsman just makes an impact during every game for the OU defense whether it is making a tackle, sack, forcing a fumble, or picking off a pass. – Patrick Conn, College Sports Wire

His 70 tackles rank second in the Big 12, just behind Oklahoma State Cowboys’ [autotag]Nickolas Martin[/autotag]. His 10.0 tackles per game rank 16th in the country.

There’s no doubt Stutsman has taken his game to another level this season. So much so, that many feel he could end the season as an All-American. There is obviously still a long way to go, but if Stutsman continues to put up these numbers and the defense continues to show improvement, it will be hard to keep him off that list.

He also could be a Butkus Award Finalist, an award a Sooners defender hasn’t won since Teddy Lehman in 2003.
