Danny Sprinkle gives injury update on two guards who missed Michigan game

Danny Sprinkle discussed the status of Jase Butler and DJ Davis on Tuesday.

During Washington’s 91-75 loss to the Michigan Wolverines on Sunday, Danny Sprinkle’s Huskies were short-handed in the backcourt. Two guards, senior DJ Davis and freshman Jase Butler, both missed the game due to various injuries.

Sprinkle took some time to address their situations during his Tuesday press conference.

DJ Davis

The Huskies have struggled to shoot the ball all season and even though Davis is converting on just 33.8 percent of his attempts from three-point range so far this year, he has been a lethal threat that opposing defenses have had to respect all year. But if he has to miss time, Sprinkle is encouraged by the way his team shot the ball against Michigan.

“DJ tweaked his ankle when we were walking through Michigan’s plays or something like that.”

“It was great,” he continued when asked what the gameplan would be if Davis is sidelined for an extended period of time. “We went 9-21 against Michigan without him, and I thought, for the most part…the 12 we missed were open and those are shots we want our guys taking.”

Jase Butler

The freshman has brought impressive energy to both ends of the floor whenever he’s called on and has shown all the makings of a future starter while averaging 12.5 minutes per game. According to Sprinkle, the former four-star recruit and one-time Illinois signee is in concussion protocol.

“He got bumped in the head before the Michigan State game,” he said.
