The Philadelphia 76ers got a little healthier on Sunday as they returned to practice to prepare for the Houston Rockets on Monday back at home. Philadelphia is feeling good about themselves after winning three games in a row on the road and they have a chance to make a move up the standings.
The Sixers did get one player back from the protocols on Sunday night at practice as Danny Green made his return. The veteran guard entered the protocols on Dec. 21 and he missed four games in a row due to COVID.
As Green rejoined the team on Sunday, he gave an update on his health and how he’s feeling.
“I feel pretty good,” said Green. “It feels good to be back. I’ll let you know when I actually get into a game-type of atmosphere, I’m sure it’ll be a little different once I get up and down out there, but today it felt good to practice. Yesterday, I got some workouts in, and hopefully, tomorrow, we get a good rhythm and sync, and hopefully, I haven’t lost any steps.”
Green is a huge part of what the Sixers do on the offensive end of the floor as he is a guy who provides good 3-point shooting at 37.4% and he makes the game easier for Joel Embiid down low. While he was out, he did not experience too many symptoms, so he feels ready to go.
“Nothing major,” Green explained. “Very little, slight, but I was good for the most part.”
Green did have a chance to run some at practice on Sunday as he was able to have the opportunity to get up and down a bit. That should help him prepare for Monday’s game with the Rockets.
“We had a couple of days in between, especially with guys coming back, some going out, it’s tough to get up and down, but you have to,” he added. “For those that are still recovering from COVID, some that are still lingering. It was good to get up and down, good to see guys, get after it, compete a little bit, but not too much because we’re low on bodies.”
Besides a battle with COVID, Green is also dealing with a hamstring issue that has hampered him all season. He added that the hamstring is fine and he should be ready for Monday.
“Hamstring’s been fine,” he finished. “The hamstring’s been good. I think the biggest thing right now is rhythm, wind, condition, and making sure everything’s good for when—as of right now—we don’t know who’s in tomorrow. Every day there’s some testing that happens so I gotta be prepared to play some minutes.”
