Danny Amendola bashes Patriots coaches: ‘Tom Brady is the Patriot Way’

Danny Amendola had some thoughts on the Patriot Way on Monday.

As Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers get set to play in the Super Bowl on Sunday, former Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola has some thoughts about what constitutes the “Patriot Way.”

Appearing on First Things First Monday, he was asked about buying into the Patriot Way while a player in New England. Amendola indicated that Brady, and not Belichick truly embodied the Patriot Way.

The wide receiver caught 230 passes for 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns during his time in New England. He was a favorite target of Tom Brady’s and earned a reputation for being a clutch player come playoff time.

“When you see the ‘Patriot Way’ in the dictionary, it’s got Tom Brady’s picture next to it. None of those coaches caught any passes. None of those coaches made any tackles. They got guys in the right positions because they watched a lot of film and spent a lot of time at the facility. Tom Brady is the ‘Patriot Way.’ That’s why he’s in the Super Bowl & the Patriots aren’t.”

It is certainly an intriguing debate given the Patriots success with Brady. One has to wonder how far the Patriots would have gotten the past two decades without him.
