KNOXVILLE — A local high school baseball player in the 2022 recruiting class has committed to play for the University of Tennessee and head coach Tony Vitello.
Daniel Parris, a rising sophomore at Knoxville Catholic High School, has committed to play for the Volunteers.
Parris, an infielder and pitcher for the Irish, has yet to have much high school experience as the 2020 campaign was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He was, however, one of four Knoxville Catholic players to receive 2020 preseason All-America honors from Perfect Game.
Parris, Spencer Margolis and Emery Wright received Honorable Mentions, while Kaden Martin, an outfielder, was named to Perfect Game’s All-America Second Team.
Martin, the son of Tennessee assistant football coach Tee Martin, has multiple Division I scholarship offers. He is a junior at KCHS and was the District 4-AAA Newcomer of the Year in 2019.
