The 2021 NFL Draft is less than a week away and it may be the first time four quarterbacks are selected with the first four picks.

Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Trey Lance and Mac Jones have lit up storylines throughout the offseason and it’s finally time to see where each unique talent lands. Lawrence and Wilson are surefire No. 1 and 2 picks, but the level of certainty drops when it comes to the following three.

Fields will likely be selected by the San Francisco 49ers at No. 3, leaving the New England Patriots two potential options if they’re willing to trade up. Fortunately for Belichick, if he’s convinced enough to trade up, there’s teams in the top 10 that are willing to trade down.

If the Patriots can trade up and have the option between Jones or Lance — draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah is taking the North Dakota State product.

” … When you have a guy with this skillset, and you match the skillset with the intelligence that he has, he’s gong to figure it out. I firmly believe it,” Jeremiah said on Wednesday, via NBC Sports Boston’s “The Next Pats Podcast.”

“So, would he be a fit for the Patriots? Heck yes,” Jeremiah said.

Lance is 6-foot-3, 224 pounds and he launched 28 touchdown passes in 2019 with zero interceptions. He missed the 2020 season because his school opted out, but it doesn’t discredit his pure talent.

“He’s played in a complex, complicated system where he had a good amount of responsibility on his shoulders,” Jeremiah continued. “So even though the starts are what they are, you got 17 starts to work off of, the guys is, what we know is irrefutable — he’s built like a brick house so he’s going to be durable. He’s going to add to your running game because you can use some designed quarterback running game, which he’s built to handle.

“He’s incredibly intelligent, and that’s — I’ve spent time with him, and I’ve talked to a bunch of teams that have spent time with him and have been kind of blown away through the interview process with him. The character, the work ethic, all that stuff is exceptional from everybody that you talk to at North Dakota State. So all those things, like we know going in, he’s got all that stuff.”

The Patriots have heavily scouted Lance and would be making an extremely calculated move if they trade up for their future quarterback.
