The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors 145-144 on Saturday in double overtime, and the game was an instant classic. There were many thrills to be had throughout, and the proceedings were topsy-turvy.
At one point, the Lakers fell behind 88-73 and scored 14 unanswered points to come to within one, only to fall behind by nine in the fourth quarter. The rest of the game was played on even terms, with both teams trading one monster punch after another.
Guard D’Angelo Russell was ice cold in the first half, but he warmed in the fourth quarter. In the second overtime, he committed two turnovers in quick succession, but he came right back by hitting a 3-pointer in transition with just under a minute left.
After the game, he talked about that sequence and how he kept his composure to help his team.
"To be honest, I knew I had just turned the ball over. So for me, it was just trying to be sure on whatever I was gonna do next time I got the ball, not lose confidence.. that was a good look for me, I still feel that."
