The UFC president was quick to shut down Usman’s wish for the cross-over fight following Usman’s latest title defense. Usman \ (20-1 MMA, 15-0 UFC) defeated Colby Covington for a second time in the main event of Saturday’s UFC 268 pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

All the way leading up to the bout against Covington, Usman had pitched the idea during media interviews about wanting to face Canelo. White thinks it’s a bad idea.

“I watched the Canelo fight tonight,” White told MMA Junkie at the post-fight press conference. “He don’t want to fight Canelo, he don’t want to fight Canelo. Come on, man. Let’s stop this sh*t. If Canelo wants to come over here, awesome fight. Those two put on an incredible performance (tonight).”

Canelo knocked out Caleb Plant in the 11th round of their championship fight on Saturday night in Las Vegas. The Mexican became the first undisputed super middleweight champion and only the sixth undisputed champ in the four-title era. He’s regarded by many as the best pound-for-pound boxer on the planet today.

Meanwhile, Usman is also building a legacy on his own. “The Nigerian Nightmare” has five UFC title defenses in his pocket and is currently riding a 19-fight winning streak.
