Dana White’s attempts to continue putting on UFC fights through the coronavirus pandemic just went from reckless and foolish to outright absurd.
It was just 24 hours ago that we wrote about White continuing to plow ahead with planning UFC 249 without a headline match and location, not to mention the fact that the BEST WAY to combat COVID-19 is to keep everyone isolated and practicing social distancing.
Just when you thought it couldn’t get wilder, it did.
White told TMZ Sports that he’s working on securing a private island (seriously!) to put international fighters on. And on top of that, he’s keeping the location of UFC 249 secret:

“We’re going to get the fighters somewhere, and we’re going to bring them to this location. They won’t know where they’re headed to.”@danawhite explains the logistics of how fighters will be transported to the site of #UFC249, as well as the soon-to-be-secured private island. pic.twitter.com/KMPGZ0qc9Q

This is all dangerous — he says there will be thorough medical screening but what if one person has it and goes undetected? — and ridiculous. If he thinks having a sport go on in the middle of a time when every other league is shut down is that important, he should take a real step back and think about whether risking lives is worth the money.
