Just before the new Washington Redskins head coach, Ron Rivera was brought to the podium on Thursday afternoon for his introductory press conference with the team, owner Dan Snyder said a few words before the media.
While he talked about needs for a culture shift, and his belief that Rivera is the person the bring them, he also made an interesting comment at the very beginning. He wished everyone in attendance a Happy Thanksgiving…
Obviously, the press conference took place on January 2nd, over a month after Thanksgiving took place, and days after Christmas and New Year’s Day.
The way that Snyder said the line seemed like he was intent on making a dry-humored joke, and Rivera’s chuckle in the background suggests that it could have very well been an inside joke.
Maybe you had to be there… Let’s assume it was funny and intentional, and decide to move on.
