Dan Orlovsky says Jets are among pair of teams that can beat Chiefs

How much of a chance do the Jets have of knocking off the Chiefs?

The Jets pushed all their chips to the middle of the table this season with the acquisition of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. They believe they can make a run at the Super Bowl and knock off the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. They also have at least one believer in the media world.

Appearing on ESPN’s Get Up recently, NFL analyst and former quarterback Dan Orlovsky shared some thoughts about the Jets, including their positioning in terms of the top teams in the AFC to get to the Super Bowl.

“I think the Jets are in this very unique space,” said Orlovsky, via Jets X-Factor. “There’s two teams that I think are the most equipped to beat Kansas City, because that’s what this season is about. One is Buffalo … and the two are the New York Jets. Those are 1-2 to knock off Kansas City to go back to the Super Bowl.”

That is high praise for a team that hasn’t reached the playoffs since 2010. That means Orlovsky also believes the Jets are in a better position than the Cincinnati Bengals, who reached the Super Bowl two seasons ago and nearly returned to the Super Bowl last season.

The Jets won’t have to wait long to test their skills against those top teams in Orlovsky’s mind. New York sees Buffalo and Kansas City within the first four weeks of the season, both in primetime. Buffalo comes to town for a Monday night battle in Week 1 and then Kansas City visits MetLife on Sunday night in Week 4. By then, we’ll have an idea where the Jets stand in the AFC.
