Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen are the rightful early favorites in the MVP race halfway through the season. Both their individual numbers and their teams’ records are better than that of Geno Smith. That said, No. 7 still belongs in the conversation.
This morning on ESPN, Dan Orlovsky made the case for why Smith is in this race: he’s throwing more dimes than anybody else in the league.
"There is no quarterback that has more perfect throws in every game than Geno Smith. … That's why he's right in the MVP race."

This is right on the money. The Giants are a scrappy bunch, but Sunday’s game wouldn’t have been remotely as close if not for a missed DPI call against DK Metcalf and a one in a million drop from Tyler Lockett. Both throws were incredibly accurate darts by Geno – throws that he has made look routine this season.
