Dan Le Batard Show discusses Nets’ Ben Simmons HOF prospects

Amin Elhassan and Dan Le Batard of The Dan Le Batard Show discuss whether Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons is a hall-of-famer right now.

Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons has been one of the most polarizing players in the NBA over the past few seasons for a variety of reasons. When you talk to someone about Simmons, it’s equally likely to hear someone praise him as it is to hear someone completely trash him. The real question is: is he a hall-of-famer?

In a recent clip posted by SB Nation, Dan Le Batard and Amin Elhassan of The Dan Le Batard Show discussed Simmons from the standpoint of whether he’s a hall-of-famer or not. In part, Elhassan said that if Simmons continues to play and never improves, he’s in the hall.

Le Batard, on the other hand, did not give an answer as to whether or not he believes that Simmons is a hall-of-famer or can be a hall-of-famer at this point of his career. In the context of the clip, Le Batard says that there has never been a player with Simmons’ physical talent that also has the mental shortcomings that the NBA world has seen from him over the years to pair with that talent.

Here’s what Elhassan had to say in the clip:

“If he (Simmons) plays and never gets any better, he’s going to the Hall of Fame. He defends all five positions at an elite level, he’s an excellent passer, he’s led the league in assists and (has) led the league in assists that led to three-pointers… He just needs to play confidently.”

Simmons is currently sidelined with a nerve impingement in his lower left back. He could be back soon depending on how his body responds to treatment, according to Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn.
