Free agent safety Damontae Kazee took his scheduled visit to the Detroit Lions on Thursday, but he opted to go in a different direction. Kazee instead signed with the Dallas Cowboys.
Kazee had visited with Dallas a day earlier. He left to honor his commitment to meeting with the Lions, but the Cowboys offer to the former Falcons defensive back was more appealing. He joins ex-Lions safety Jayron Kearse, who signed with Dallas earlier in the week.
The 27-year-old Kazee can play either safety spot but also has experience playing in the slot. He led the NFL in interceptions in 2018 but was under the radar after missing most of the 2020 campaign with a torn Achilles.
