Damian Lillard defends Nets’ hiring of Steve Nash as head coach

Portland Trail Blazers superstar guard Damian Lillard is no stranger to speaking well of a member of the Brooklyn Nets organization.

On Monday, Damian Lillard took to Twitter to campaign for former Portland Trail Blazers assistant coach David Vanterpool.

Now the associate head coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Vanterpool has been added to the Houston Rockets’ list of candidates to fill the opening left by Mike D’Antoni.

One of the many replies Lillard received in response this tweet called into question the Brooklyn Nets’ hiring of Steve Nash as head coach, citing his race. Lillard defended the Nets’ decision, tweeting:

No he didn’t smh… this part of the problem . He’s a 2x mvp and has a relationship with their two best players. It’s about fit …

Someone then called into question Nash’s MVP awards, to which Lillard responded:

You allowed an opinion. I’ll take ONE fluke MVP … and he spent time on staff with an NBA team that KD was On
