Dalvin Cook’s meeting with Jets was positive despite not signing a contract

Dalvin Cook had a positive meeting with the Jets over the weekend despite not receiving a contract.

Dalvin Cook met with the New York Jets over the weekend and he was greeted with cheers from the fans while he was seen roaming the team’s practices at training camp. Following his positive visit with the Jets, Cook is headed back home without a new contract in hand.

It became known last week that Cook was preparing to visit the Jets in hopes to find a new team before the 2023 campaign. Aaron Rodgers also restructured his contract with New York to allow the team to improve the roster around him, paving the way for a potential Cook signing.

Before spending the weekend with the Jets, Cook appeared on “Good Morning Football” to share that New York is high on his list of suitors. Cook is being patient in finding his next team and has made it clear that he wants to join an organization that can contend for a Super Bowl in 2023.

For the Jets, Cook would be insurance alongside Breece Hall, who is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered as a rookie in 2022. The Jets are uncertain when Hall will be able to practice in training camp, though, they’ve given a vague timeline of a ‘couple of weeks’.

Considering that Cook is mulling over his options for the upcoming season, it’s not unusual for him to leave New York without putting pen to paper. Even with Cook headed back to Florida, the Jets should seemingly feel good about their chances of landing the Pro Bowl running back.
