Dak Prescott says he was hosting a ‘home dinner,’ not a party with Ezekiel Elliott

The Cowboys QB came under fire after it was reported that he partied with Ezekiel Elliott. Prescott says he was just having dinner.

Dallas Cowboys stars Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott were criticized for ignoring the ongoing stay-at-home order in Texas over the weekend after police responded to a report of a potential party at Prescott’s home last Friday. According to a TMZ report, there were approximately 30 people in attendance at the “height of the bash,” but a Prosper police officer was “unable to verify the report of a ‘party,'” and simply reminded Prescott about social distancing.

Many fans and analysts ripped Prescott and Elliott for blatantly disregarding current public health guidelines – but according to Prescott, the reports about the gathering are “completely inaccurate.” In a statement given to Pro Football Talk, Prescott said he was disappointed by the stories, and that he was merely eating dinner with “fewer than 10” people.

Unfortunately for Prescott, the amount of people in his home doesn’t really matter, as he was inviting in guests for what the state would consider a non-essential activity. Texas governor Greg Abbott has ordered all residents to “stay at home except to provide essential services or do essential things like going to the grocery store.”

Via Pro Football Talk:

“I understand and accept that there are additional responsibilities and media scrutiny that come with being an NFL quarterback, but it is very frustrating and disappointing when people provide completely inaccurate information from anonymous sources, especially now.

To set the record straight, I know that we all need to do our best to socially distance and like everyone else, I am continuing to adjust to what that requires, but the truth is that I was with fewer than 10 people for a home dinner — not a party — on Friday night. I am very sensitive to the challenges we are all facing and making sure to support the first responders and medical personnel and everyone else putting in long hours.”
