Dabo Swinney ties Clemson legend Frank Howard’s all-time wins record

Dabo Swinney is one game away from making Clemson history.

Dabo Swinney and the Tigers would have liked to look better in their 17-12 win over Wake Forest, but the win was enough to tie Swinney with a legendary Clemson head coach.

The win earned Swinney his 165th as Clemson’s head coach, tying College Football Hall of Famer Frank Howard as the Tigers’ all-time winningest head coach. Swinney’s record now sits at 165-41 all-time, with Howard ending his historic career with a 165-118-12 record.

It is an outstanding achievement for Swinney, but the head coach is one more win away from even greater history. With a win in Week 8, Swinney will become Clemson’s all-time leader in wins as a head coach.

Swinney and Clemson fans will have to wait, as the Tigers have a Week 7 bye before they travel to face Miami at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on October 21st.
