During his weekly Tuesday press conference, Dabo Swinney shared injury updates on multiple Tigers, including some key starters.
Starting defensive end Justin Mascoll has been labeled as day-to-day; according to Swinney, they are “not sure yet” whether Mascoll will be ready to go for the matchup against NC State. They’ll learn more about his status today.
“Today’s the first day in pads, so we’ll see where he is today,” Swinney said.
Star wide receiver Antonio Williams will miss extended time with his ankle injury. He was technically labeled as week-to-week, but Swinney’s words make it seem like he will miss more than just a week.
“He’s going to be out for a while, unfortunately,” Swinney said. “We got him back (at Miami)… He made some nice plays. But it’s not his ankle, so that’s a positive. It’s more kind of underneath his toe area. So, he’s probably going to be a few weeks. So hopefully, we’ll get him back maybe end of the season, the last couple games. I don’t know. We’ll just have to see how he responds.”
Outside of Williams, the only other starter we have confirmed out is safety R.J. Mickens. Swinney mentioned earlier in the day that Mickens was dealing with appendicitis, leading to the removal of his appendix.
Clemson faces NC State at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh on Saturday with a 2 p.m. kickoff on The CW Network.
