Dabo Swinney shares a team health update on the Clemson Tigers

Swinney updates the status of the Tigers.

Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney provided injury updates on several key players during his Tuesday press conference ahead of Saturday’s matchup against Stanford. The Tigers have been dealing with injuries to both offensive and defensive starters, but Swinney shared positive news on their recovery progress.

Sophomore defensive lineman Peter Woods and sophomore wide receiver Tyler Brown are both still listed as day-to-day. Woods has been sidelined since suffering a chop block injury during Clemson’s win over Appalachian State on Sept. 7, while Brown has been recovering from an ankle injury sustained in the same game. Neither played in last week’s victory against NC State, but Swinney said both are improving. “They’re doing well. Getting better every day,” Swinney noted, adding that Brown came close to playing against the Wolfpack. The decision to hold him out was made after evaluating him during pregame warmups.

Additionally, Swinney provided updates on offensive lineman Collin Sadler, wide receiver Bryant Wesco, and defensive tackle DeMonte Capehart. Sadler missed the NC State game due to a calf injury and remains day-to-day. Meanwhile, Wesco, who was injured during the game, is expected to play against Stanford. “He’s back, just a little sore,” Swinney said, explaining the team chose to hold him out as a precaution. Capehart is also progressing well in his recovery.

Clemson, now 2-1 and 1-0 in ACC play, will look to keep the momentum going when they face Stanford at Memorial Stadium this Saturday at 7 p.m.
