Dabo Swinney on if he expects Cade Klubnik to return to Clemson in 2025

Swinney on Klubnik’s future at Clemson.

Clemson football head coach Dabo Swinney was asked during his weekly Tuesday press conference whether he expects breakout star quarterback Cade Klubnik to be back with the Tigers next season.

After a tough start against the then No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs, Klubnik has been on fire looking like one of the best quarterbacks in the country. In his three appearance’s this season, Klubnik has completed nearly 74% of his passes for 729 yards and eight touchdowns with one interception. He’s been dangerous with his feet, scoring three touchdowns on the ground.

“I don’t know why he wouldn’t be,” Swinney said regarding whether he thinks Klubnik will be back next season. “Yeah. I mean, he needs to just beat Stanford, worry about all that stuff. But yeah, I mean, he’s a junior.

“You may have somebody that may just want to move on somewhere else. You never know. But our anticipation, just where we are on paper – we know we’re going to lose Marcus and Brinny and Phil. But outside of that, we expect everybody back. We’re building good momentum with this group, and more on the way.”

Even with Klubnik elevating his play, the smart decision right now would be to return to Clemson for another season of development. It will likely depend on next year’s quarterback Class, which does feel on the weak side.
