To snap Ray Allen’s NBA all-time record for made 3-pointers in front of his home fans at San Francisco’s Chase Center, Steph Curry needed to drill a ridiculous 16 triples against the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.
Despite having to snap a single-game record for the most made 3-pointers in a single contest, there was a buzz around the potential of Curry attempting to pass Allen on Wednesday.
However, a slow start stunted Curry’s to the history books. The two-time Most Valuable Player hit just 2-of-6 from long distance in the first quarter, including missing his first four attempts. Curry added four more jumpers from deep before heading into the final frame of the contest.
In the fourth quarter, Curry missed his only attempt from deep to finish the night 6-of-17 from behind the 3-point line.

Curry’s quest for history will now head on the road. Starting with a contest against his brother Seth and the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday, Curry and the Warriors will open a five-game road swing.
Allen sits in first place with 2973 all-time made triples, with Curry sitting right behind him with 2964. The Warriors point guard would need to get hot on his way to 10 made triples to surpass Allen on Saturday in Philadelphia.
