CU women’s basketball named ESPN’s team of the week and return to AP Top 25

The women’s Buffs are back in the AP Top 25

Both the Colorado Buffaloes basketball teams are off to impressive starts this season. However, the women’s team has made a lot of noise, jumping out to a 13-0 record through the early days of conference play.

The CU women just keep winning games and on Monday, the Buffs got rewarded in a couple of different ways. First, the Buffs returned to the AP Top 25 with a No. 22 ranking, quite the achievement for Colorado, which has cemented its stake in the Pac-12 this season.

Second, the Buffs got honored by was named ESPN’s women’s basketball team of the week after a pair of victories against USC and UCLA over the weekend kept them undefeated.

The question is, can Colorado keep it up?

The Buffs have a monster test this weekend against No. 2 Stanford, and another win over the Cardinal should send Boulder into a celebration.

The Buffs then face Cal and Arizona State before facing No. 7 Arizona on the road, so these next two weeks will be massive to see how good this Colorado team is.

Getting a top 25 spot is huge, and being named ESPN’s team of the week is also quite the accomplishment.

Is an NCAA Tournament bid in the works next?

Only time will tell, but so far so good in Boulder, and there is a path for both the men’s and women’s teams to crack the Big Dance.
