CU women’s basketball gearing up for New Year’s Day battle at No. 11 TCU

The CU women will face another ranked opponent tonight

The Colorado women’s basketball team (10-2, 1-0 Big 12) should be champing at the bit for 2025. On Wednesday in Fort Worth, the Buffs will ring in the New Year against the No. 11 TCU Horned Frogs (13-1, 1-0 Big 12).

The Buffs are coming off a period of extended rest. Their last game came on Dec. 21 when they upset then-No. 14 West Virginia, 65-60. The Buffs’ schedule doesn’t get any easier as the Horned Frogs are ranked No. 11 in the AP Poll and No. 12 in the latest USA TODAY Sports women’s basketball coaches poll.

TCU is led by a triple threat in center Sedona Prince and guards Hailey Van Lith and Madison Conner. Prince, who stands 6-foot-7, averages a near-double-double at 17.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Conner is a lethal 3-point threat and the best pure shooter on TCU’s roster. She averages 16.4 points per game on 44.9% shooting from deep.

Finally, Van Lith spent last with the LSU Tigers, who Colorado upset in last season’s opener. The 5-foot-9 guard has gotten off to a great start with the Horned Frogs, leading the team with 18.9 points and 6.4 assists per game.

Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m. MT and can be seen on ESPN+.
