CU men’s basketball faces another tough road challenge at Arizona State

Colorado is looking for some revenge after falling to ASU earlier this season

The Colorado Buffaloes’ postseason hopes have taken a turn for the worst, and their 14-12 record isn’t too appealing when you look at their resume.

However, the Buffs have a chance to get a signature road win on Thursday at Arizona State.

The last time these teams faced, the Buffs lost a heartbreaker to Arizona State on Dec. 1 in Boulder, 60-59. Desmond Cambridge Jr. crushed the Buffs’ chances of an upset with a game-winning 3-pointer, and Colorado’s offense shot just 37% from the field in an underwhelming performance for Tad Boyle’s team.

Colorado comes into this game with two wins in its last three games, although the Buffs lost to Utah by 11 on Saturday on the road.

KJ Simpson continues to lead the Buffs, and he has responded after a couple of subpar performances against the Oregon schools. Simpson scored double-digits in each of the last three games, including 21 in the win against Stanford and a team-high 14 against Utah. Tristan da Silva, meanwhile, was nowhere to be found against the Utes, shooting just 3-for-12 from the field with six points after five straight 20-plus point outings.

Arizona State has won three of its last four to respond after a four-game skid, and the Sun Devils can’t afford to lose this one, especially being on the wrong side of the March Madness bubble for the time being.
