The Pac-12 Conference is loaded with ranked women’s basketball teams. Colorado is No. 8 in the latest AP Poll and still has just one loss, a 78-60 defeat to No. 3 North Carolina State.
In their final Pac-12 opener before joining the Big 12 next year, the Buffs host No. 12 Utah on Saturday.
The Utes have just two losses this season, a seven-point loss to Baylor and a nine-point loss to South Carolina, both of whom are ranked in the top 25. They responded to the loss against top-ranked South Carolina with a pair of wins by a combined 89 points, although those two blowouts came against Southern Utah and Weber State. Their offense is also one of the country’s best, ranking third in points per game (93.3) and first in both field goal percentage (53.84) and assists per game (24.9).
Alissa Pili has been dominant, averaging 23.8 PPG and 5.4 rebounds, and she scored an eye-popping 37 against South Carolina.
Nonetheless, the Buffs have their hands full. But the good news is that they’ll be playing in Boulder.
Tipoff is at 1 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Network.
