Cincinnati Bengals rookie wideout Tee Higgins is one catch away from breaking a franchise record set by Cris Collinsworth in 1981.
Sitting on 67 catches for 908 yards and six touchdowns this year — leading the team in receiving — Higgins will displace Collinsworth with a single catch as the team’s all-time rookie receptions leader.
Here’s what Collinsworth had to say about the first pick of the second round from last year’s draft:
“…he’s been pretty amazing. When you consider going through the quarterbacks that they’ve had to go through…you don’t always get that sort of continuity. Tee Higgins is special. He has the ability to go up and get those contested catches. He has big strong hands going over the middle. He seems to have no fear whatsoever.”
Higgins’ quick come-up seems to be a big part of the reason A.J. Green has had a ho-hum return and doesn’t have much to say about his future with the Bengals.
Given Higgins’ quick pace and perseverance through multiple starting quarterbacks, it seems the Joe Burrow-led offense will be in good hands thanks to the Higgins-Tyler Boyd combo.
