Crawford hops in the car and is quietly freaking out inside. Almost akin to those old Frosted Mini Wheats commercials where the younger version of the adult suddenly bursts out gleefully after the sugary half of the rectangular cereal hits the taste buds. “I’m going down there, it’s 6:30 in the morning,” Crawford said. “I’m nervous. I get to the gym, it’s just him, M.J. and myself. And M.J.’s in the weight room and he was very gracious. He was doing defensive slides. I’ll never forget it. He was doing a defensive slide drill and it was as soon as I walked in. We are kind of talking in between his reps and stuff and I didn’t want to talk too much because I was like a kid in a candy store. And I stayed down there probably 35, 40 minutes and he told me, he was like, ‘Yeah, this summer, once the season is over with, you can come work out with us.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, OK.’”
