Craig Yoho, expected to ace Arkansas’ bullpen, taken by Milwaukee

Commitments to the Arkansas baseball team are flying off the draft shelves.

Craig Yoho will probably never make it to Baum-Walker Stadium.

Yoho played last year with Indiana, but committed to transfer to Arkansas to play the 2023 season. Before school could even begin the semester, though, Yoho was taken in the eighth round of the MLB Draft on Monday by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Yoho had two Tommy John surgeries early in his college career, but rallied for a 3.41 earned-run average with 63 strikeouts in 37 innings out of the Hoosiers’ bullpen. Those marks earned him Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball despite Yoho actually being a fifth-year senior.

The slot value for the pick is just above $196,000, so it’s likely Yoho will sign instead of play another season of college ball, especially as injuries in his past may encourage him to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak.
